RIVER TRIPS

Click the button above to reserve your trip.

Trips are scheduled to depart between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

To check water conditions on the Greenbrier, follow this link to the ALDERSON GAUGE for current and predicted water levels. We like to see the river between 2.5 and 4.5 on the gauge for the best paddling.

Choose between Paddle Trips (1 or 2-seat boats either inflatable or hard shell) and Tube Trips (float down the river in a big inflatable tube)

Paddling trips range from 1.5 hours (2.5 river miles) up to 4 hours (7.5 river miles) between Fort Spring and Alderson, where the river provides a variety of challenges (Class I and II rapids) depending on the season. We recommend inflatable boats for people with less experience as they will less likely turn up side down when going through the rapids.

Tubing trips are from Fort Spring to the Campground, (2.5 river miles). This section includes several small rapids, including two Class II rapids. Float time is approximately 2.5 hours, but will vary depending upon river speed. Children may be tethered to adult tubes. Bring a cooler and spend a relaxed day on the river.

All trips start at the Campground. We supply boats and tubes, paddles, PFDs (life jackets), transport and pickup.
You bring: hats, coolers, sunblock, suitable foot wear (no flip flops) and clothing to match the time of year and to insure a comfortable day on the river. A waterproof bag is recommended for cameras and cell phones. Our Camp Store offers several river items for sale.

RIVER POLICIES

    • Your PFD (life jacket) must be worn at all times while on the water.
    • We require all guests to wear suitable water shoes with backs (no flip flops).
    • Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not allowed on the river.
    • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Their safety is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian. Capabilities vary by child, but we offer the following guidelines: children under the age of 7, a weight of 50 lbs., or a height of 4′ should not be on the river.
    • All river customers must sign a release
    • We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to camera equipment, phones, keys, etc.
    • All rental equipment must be returned or available for pickup by 5:00 p.m. or additional fees apply.
    • Greenbrier River Campground reserves the right to refuse service at our discretion.
    • Greenbrier River Campground may cancel any trip due to weather/river conditions. In which case pre-paid bookings will be fully refunded.
    • Cancellations at least 48 hours prior to booking will be fully refunded.

We highly recommend inflatable kayaks for those with limited experience kayaking on a river or thru rapids. We also recommend inflatable boats for guests with a higher center of gravity (tall, >250 lbs. or top-heavy build). This offers a safer and better paddling experience (avoiding roll-overs)
